My trip to Our Cabana
My trip started on Saturday flying into Mexico City. There I stayed the night at Ticalli, our Girl Scout Hostel in Mexico City. I met sister scout/guides from Massachusetts and Calgary, Canada. On Sunday we visited the floating gardens, our self guided tour was led by two high school scouts.
By evening we were getting on the bus to Our Cabana, along with sister scouts from New Jersey. I believe it was a three hour bus trip.
Our Cabana session was titled "Mind, Body, and Guiding". It was centered around health and helping.
We had opening ceremony, visited the pyramids, helped with Habitat for Humanity, visited a spa and relaxation, visited Tasco a city known for silver also beautiful church and shopping, had natural facials by the pool at Our Cabana, International Night where we shared where we are from, back to Habitat to dig an outdoor bathroom, visited another city, shops, museum and beautiful church, salsa class with pinata, closing ceremony, and our last day with "Girls Say", which was centered around what girls say they want to know/learn, and/or help others.
Every day at our Cabana was full. We would wake up with the morning bell at 7am, breakfast started at 7:30 and usually our activities started by 8am.
Many activities included travel, however we also had daily activities at Our Cabana. Each day we would have an overview of what we were going to do the following day. We learned about culture, visited the families at our habitat home, we had facials by the pool, and went swimming at Our Cabana, they have a full craft room that was available every day, closing at 9:30pm at night, except our last night which was open all night, we stayed up till 1:30am.
This was a great experience for me. I am looking forward to going back in two years with scouts from Gilroy! Are you interested? It is a two year training and preparing process, if you would like to join me on this great adventure, let me know, it will be an awesome experience!
